The original Little Angel as built by Bob Shores and first exhibited at NAMES 98. This is the first engine I offered to the public. Exhibiting the engine at local shows generated many request for the drawings.

Graham Hollis built the Little Angel shown above and won the Sherline Machinists Challenge contest at NAMES 2000. This was the first engine that Graham built.

Specificaly, the Little Angel is a hit-or-miss, farm type, water cooled, governor controlled, gasoline engine built entirely from bar stock. The bore and stroke is .500", it is 3.1" high, 3.5" wide and 4.8" long with 2.5" diameter flywheels. The recommended sparkplug is the Plasma 1/4-32. The recommended fuel is 9 parts regular gasoline with 1 part WD-40. This fuel provides excellent lubrication and prevents carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. The Little Angel will run 24 hours a day, for 28 days, on 1 gallon of fuel.

The drawing package contains 5 high quality blueprints and 10 typewritten pages of construction suggestions. The drawing package price is $30.00, postpaid within the USA and $35.00 if shipped outside of the USA.

Custom Flywheels

Cast Silicon Bronze flywheels, with curved spokes,  are now available as an accessory for the Little Angel. Polished Silicon Bronze will not tarnish quickly and adds a professional look to the engine. These 2 1/2" OD flywheels can also be used on other small engines, steam or gas.

The flywheels are priced at $12.00 ea, plus $5.00 postage within the USA. $15.00 ea. plus $6.00 postage if shipped outside the USA.

The Silver Angel shown above is a vertical, air cooled, hit-or-miss gasoline engine with a bore and stroke of .750". It is 5.6" high, 3.7" wide and 4.3" long. It is built from bar stock. It features an overhead valve operated by a rotary cam from a vertical camshaft.

Engine speed is controlled by a flyball governor and has a crankcase pressure controller that maintains a slight negative crankcase pressure to prevent oil leaks. The photo above shows the Silver Angel with the accessory cast Silicon Bronze Acme flywheel. The flywheel diameter is 3.7" . This engine is what I call "open Technology" as all moving parts can be seen. The engine is easy to start and will run for long periods of time making it a nice exhibition engine.

The drawing package consists of seven 24" X 36" higest quality blueprints and 13 typewritten pages of construction suggestions. The drawing package price is $30.00, postpaid within the USA. $35.00 if shipped outside the USA.

Available accessories include:

The ACME flywheel shown above is now available as an accessory for the Silver Angel. It is a cast Silicon Bronze wheel that is 3.6" OD, 1.032" wide and weighs 2 pounds. The 1/4" raised letters are cast on both sides so that the best side can be selected and the oposite side machined to obtain the desired width. Silicon Bronze is heavier than Cast Iron and will not tarnish as quick as Brass. The wheel is suitable for use on other gas and steam engines. The price of the Acme wheel is $23.00, postpaid within the USA. $25.00 if shipped outside the USA.
